The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) School of Dentistry is one of the newer additions to UK dental education, having received GDC approval for its BDS programme. UCLan offers a modern, community-focused approach to dental training in partnership with NHS Lancashire dental services. UCLan's dental programme places particular emphasis on accessibility, inclusivity, and addressing the dental health needs of communities in the North West. Students receive training across a network of community dental clinics and hospital settings, providing diverse clinical experience. The school is part of UCLan's growing health sciences faculty, benefiting from shared research resources, interdisciplinary training opportunities, and strong NHS partnerships.
UCLan's dental school was established in 2012, making it one of the newest dental schools in England. It was created to help address significant dental workforce shortages in Lancashire and the wider North West.
GDC accreditation granted 2012. Regular monitoring ensures educational standards.
